FO Fridays: Bees and Leaves

The internet issues still haven't been fixed. Our router died, meaning the only computer hooked up directly is the boyfriend. I have very little internet time.

When all you can really complain about is a busted up router, you know life is pretty frackin good.

I just recently started a new job. I work at a craft store. I LOVE IT.

Onto my finished projects.

I recently finished my BONUS shawl  scarf.

Its the Apis Dorsata pattern from Knitty, Deep Fall 2011

I've had my eye on the pattern since it came out. The pattern calls for 2 skeins of Madelinetosh Merino Light in Nutmeg. 

I couldn't afford the yarn it called for unfortunately, so I just put it aside as a 'hopefully one day' project.

Then I saw this yarn online.

It's Knit Picks Gloss Fingering. The colorway is called Honey. Perfect, right? 

They were discontinuing the colorway.

I snatched it up.

I used about 2.5 skeins.

Knitting up the scarf in the yarn called for is still on my 'hopefully one day' list.

I also finished another little project. Well. Half finished it. 

I made a mitten! It's actually my first ever mitten.

I'm delaying making my last 2 gifts this year. I wanted a project to make for myself, because I'm selfish like that. That and I really don't want to make them.

...I just realized that Fall 2011 must have been a very good season...

I made these mittens using stash yarn. They were very spontaneous, and a pretty quick knit too.

Another thing I've also realized is that it's not easy taking photos of your own hand. 

WIP Wednesdays: Two shawls and a goal

The internet is being screwy again.

I just typed up a little rant about silly wireless routers, and how they die. In the end, that's the only thing I really have to complain about.

Big picture: dead wireless routers don't matter. So, whats the point in me complaining?

Life is really good.

Anyway, onto my WIPs.

I've had another productive week.

I finished my Moms sweater. I gave myself the goal of finishing it by October, and I did. YAY!

I also finished my stamped cross stitch. I'll share on Sunday. YAY!

I still have two official WIPs.

I'm over 2/3rd the way done with my BONUS shawl. YAY!

I haven't picked up my September shawl in the past 3 weeks. I really need to finish it. At this point I just want it off my needles.

I've determined plans are good. My next projects are going to be gloves for my stepdad, and a hat for my grandpa.

My plan is to cast on these projects by Saturday.

My goal is to cast off these projects by Halloween.

WIP Wednesdays: Sweater for Mom

Today I've found myself working on my Moms Christmas present. I'm making her a sweater. I cast off for the body, now I'm just working on finishing the first arm. I actually really love the design. 

I'm determined to get the knitted gifts finished in time this year. So far I'm making pretty good progress.

I've made Grandma a shawl.

I've made my Grandpa a scarf. I still need to make him a hat.

I've made my stepdad a scarf. I still need to make him gloves.

I'm working on my Moms sweater.

I still need to make my cousins their gifts. The gifts are both small.

I regrettable haven't been working on my September shawl. The sweater is a bit time consuming.

I've finally reached the midway point on my Bonus shawl.

I've finally gotten to watch the Season 6 Doctor Who Christmas Special. I must confess, I don't like being caught up on shows. I hate having to wait for new episodes. I'm more a fan of DVDs. I can sit and feel really lazy and watch for hours. I hate waiting.

Well. I'm finally going to get caught up on Doctor Who. I plan on watching the Season 7 premiere sometime very soon.

Enough rambling. 

While watching the Christmas Special, I couldn't help but OOH and AAH over all the knitwear. One piece that really drew my attention was this sweet little vest.

 I was so taken by this little vest, that I've decided to make it. Last night I couldn't sleep. I had this on my mind. I stayed up last night perusing Ravelry looking for some similar pattern. I couldn't find any.

I'm determined to have this vest. I will have this vest, even if that means I must design it.

While I'm at it, I should look into having that dress too.

WIP Wednesdays: 2 Shawls and a Sweater

So, we had a pretty good sized storm out here in Las Vegas a couple of days ago. It ended up knocking out our internet.  So, I'm a day late for Wednesday.

One nice thing about not having the internet, is that I didn't have any distractions. I was actually able to get some work done.

I got started on my September shawl.

I picked up the sweater I'm making for mom for Christmas. 

I got a little bit more done on my BONUS shawl. 

I also worked on my cross stitch some more (I'll post that on Sunday).

Last night I made a yummy dinner (but I didn't think about taking a photo.) Swedish Spareribs.

And last week I finished my August shawl.

Last Saturday the Boyfriend and I went out and bought a new bed. We decided to get a king sized memory foam bed from Costco.

The bed is awesome. Really comfy. But as usual, the cat prefers the box it came in. 

WIP Wednesdays: August and a Bonus

My current WIPs are going pretty well. I'm still working on the shawl I started last week. I decided to change yarn though.

I wasn't liking the mystery yarn.

This is also keeping with my yarn diet. This yarn is from my stash, leftover from a weaving project.

I'm using the same beads.

I also decided to start another shawl. This one I've had my eye on for months. Literally.

Its this pattern.

I'm calling this one my BONUS shawl.

I started the shawl last Thursday. I didn't want to bring another beaded shawl after the dropping all my beads fiasco.

Five girls from my knitting group were down on our hands and knees picking up dropped beads. I wonder what we looked like.
